Hyderabad, November 28 (Maxim News): Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President & MP A. Revanth Reddy announced that the Congress party would wage a long and decisive battle to protect the interest of paddy farmers of Telangana.

In his concluding speech of two-day ‘Vari Deekhsha’ organised by Kisan Congress at Dharna Chowk, Indira Park here on Sunday, Revanth Reddy informed that an all-party delegation would submit a representation to Governor Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan on November 29.

Besides raising the issue of paddy procurement in the Parliament, a dharna is being planned at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi between 9th and 13th December.

Congress Will Take Battle for Paddy Farmers to Delhi: Revanth Reddy

Revanth Reddy alleged that the TRS Govt in Telangana and BJP Govt at the Centre have jointly conspired to create the present paddy procurement crisis. “Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao claims himself to be a farmer who earns a profit of Rs. 1 crore per acre. However, KCR behaved as if he wasn’t aware of the process involved in paddy procurement.

All the processes including tenders for procurement of gunny bags and transportation, fixing of millers’ quota and the shifting of paddy to FCI godowns were slowed down. These processes normally start in the month of August.

But thousands of farmers are waiting at their farm yarns and procurement centres with lakhs of tonnes of unsold paddy till the end of November.

Following unseasonal rains, the paddy stocked up at many procurement centres had got soaked and started sprouting. This is not a natural disaster.

But the devastation caused due to the negligent, cruel and idiotic attitude of KCR,” he said. (Maxim News)
