Jagitial : Additional Superintendent of Police Dakshinamurthy died of Covid-19 on Wednesday. Dakshinamurthy, who was undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Karimnagar for the last few days, breathed his last in the early hours as he developed severe difficulty in breathing.
The police officer who toured the district to examine recent rain affected areas go infected by coronavirus and was admitted to Chelmeda Ananda Rao hospital, Karimnagar.
A native of Sawaran street of Karimnagar town, Dakshinamurthy joined the police department as Sub-Inspector in 1989 and worked as SI, CI and DSP in old Warangal and Khammam districts.
Cremated with State honors
Additiona SP K Dakshinamurthy, who died of a heart attack while undergoing treatment in a private hospital for Covid-19, was cremated with full State honors in Karimangar town on Wednesday.
He was cremated in marketyard graveyard in Karimnagar with police officials, relatives, and other well-wishers bidding him a tearful adieu. The police led by Reserve Inspector Mallesham gave a gun salute to the Additional SP, who died five days before his retirement.
Jagitial Collector G Ravi, Karimnagar Police Commissioner (Jagitial in-charge SP) VB Kamalasan Reddy, Additional Collector B Rajesham and others paid floral tributes to the portrait of Dakshinamurthy and consoled family members.
BJP state president and Karimnagar MP Bandi Sanjay Kumar, in a statement, expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
The Additional SP, who extensively toured the district to inspect the rain-affected areas, was infected by coronavirus and was admitted to Chelmeda Ananda Rao hospital, Karimnagar, on August 21.
A native of Karimangar town, Dakshinamurthy joined the police department as Sub-Inspector in the year 1989 and rose to the rank of Additional SP, having worked in various position in Warangal, Khammam and Nirmal districts. He is survived by wife, two daughters and a son.
