Hyderabad, May 16: VC Sajjanar has warned cricket fans about cyber fraudsters exploiting excitement surrounding the upcoming Sunrisers Hyderabad vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru match scheduled for May 22.
He said fake advertisements and fraudulent ticket booking links are circulating widely on social media platforms.
According to Sajjanar, cyber criminals are creating counterfeit mobile applications designed to resemble the official District app by using similar logos, colours and layouts.
The fake platforms are reportedly offering discounted IPL tickets to lure cricket fans.
Sajjanar advised the public not to trust unauthorised ticket booking links shared on social media or messaging platforms.
He said police and cyber crime authorities are monitoring suspicious websites and fake applications linked to the fraud.
Citizens were also asked to immediately report any suspicious online activity to the police.
