Nepali Gang Busted In Secunderabad House Robbery Case

Hyderabad, May 16: Police busted a Nepali gang involved in a house robbery in Secunderabad and detained key suspects, including a Nepali couple employed as domestic help.

The incident took place at Kowkur Golf Enclave in Jawahar Nagar on May 12, police said.

According to investigators, the accused targeted the residence of retired professor Muralidhar Mohan, 68, and his wife Dr Vijayalakshmi, 58.

The arrested suspects were identified as Mamata, Ramesh and Sabina. Police said the gang members were found in possession of stolen gold, silver and cash.

Officials revealed that eight members were involved in the robbery.

Police said Mamata and Ramesh had gained the trust of the family while working as domestic help. The couple allegedly sought permission to celebrate a birthday at the house before secretly bringing in other gang members.

Shortly after midnight, the gang allegedly tied up the elderly couple and looted valuables from the house.

According to police, the gang stole nearly 75 tolas of gold, 20 kilograms of silver, Rs 30,000 in cash and 3,000 US dollars.

Police said most of the stolen property has been recovered. Investigation into the gang’s wider activities is continuing.
