Hyderabad, Nov 8: CPI State Secretary and MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao said artists must create art forms that raise awareness on public issues and reflect the party’s century-long history.

Sambasiva Rao was speaking at the inauguration of a two-day state-level poets and artists workshop held on Saturday at Makhdoom Bhavan, Hyderabad, under the joint aegis of Arasam and the Telangana Prajanatya Mandali.

Sambasiva Rao stated that the CPI’s 100-year history includes many challenges and achievements that should be portrayed through plays and songs.

Rao stressed that art should evolve with changing social conditions and must serve as a mirror to people’s struggles and aspirations.

Sambasiva urged writers and artists to transform public problems, pain, and suffering into creative art forms to promote solutions and social awareness.

Renowned lyricist Suddala Ashok Teja, who attended as a chief guest, said that art is the lifeblood of social consciousness and should continuously adapt to new ideas.

CPI State Executive Member Chada Venkat Reddy emphasized that art must reflect the changing political, economic, and social realities of the nation.

Sambasiva Rao called upon artists and writers to contribute to eradicating social evils such as drug abuse, alcoholism, and other societal ills.

Rao added that traditional forms like Oggu Katha, songs, and short plays still enjoy public appeal and can effectively be used for awareness campaigns.

Arasam President Palleru Veeraswamy, General Secretary Rapolu Sudarshan, Prajanatya Mandali President K. Srinivas, and General Secretary Palle Narasimha also addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of people’s art in social reform.
