Hyderabad, April 30: CV Anand assumed charge as Telangana Director General of Police on Thursday and outlined his priorities for policing and public safety. He thanked Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and the state government for entrusting him with the responsibility.
He said he will continue the best policing practices followed in Telangana over the years. Moreover, he stated that he will focus on key priority areas identified by the Chief Minister. He added that the police department must adapt to changing conditions and evolving security challenges.
Furthermore, CV Anand emphasized the need to restructure police functioning to meet modern demands. He noted that technology and intelligence-based policing will play a crucial role. At the same time, he stressed the importance of maintaining public trust and transparency.
Focus on Security and Policing Reforms
Meanwhile, the new DGP highlighted the changing nature of internal security threats. He observed that Naxalism has reached its final phase in the country. Therefore, he said police strategies must evolve accordingly.
He pointed out that Andhra Pradesh and Telangana have set national benchmarks in tackling Naxalism. In addition, he credited both enforcement measures and rehabilitation policies for this success. He explained that providing livelihood opportunities to surrendered Maoists has delivered positive outcomes.
He also expressed confidence that the Naxal issue will soon be resolved nationwide due to sustained efforts by the central government. Consequently, he said policing priorities will gradually shift toward emerging challenges.
Additionally, CV Anand reaffirmed his commitment to public safety. He said Telangana Police will continue to strengthen law and order mechanisms. He also assured that the department will enhance its reputation through efficient and people-friendly policing.
