The suspect, identified as K Chandrasekhar Azad alias Arjun, a native of Guntur in Andhra Pradesh and resident of Kukatpally, was taken into custody by Jubilee Hills Police after a complaint was filed by a minor girl recently.

According to the police, the suspect allegedly targeted women from affluent backgrounds through social media platforms, gradually gaining their trust by presenting himself as financially well-off. Once in a relationship, he reportedly sought money citing business investments, financial troubles, or personal needs.

Police said the same pattern may have been used to cheat nearly ten women.

In one of the most serious allegations, a minor from Jubilee Hills was reportedly persuaded to transfer Rs 13.11 lakh to the suspect who claimed he was launching a startup.

Officials revealed that he had earlier been booked under the POCSO Act in connection with the same victim, secured bail, and allegedly resumed contact before cheating her again.

Police suspect that the suspect used the money collected from victims to fund a lavish lifestyle, including purchasing a car, in order to reinforce his image as a wealthy individual and attract more targets.

In a related development, police have also booked a woman, identified as the wife of the accused’s driver, for allegedly blackmailing the minor victim. She is accused of extorting Rs 9 lakh by threatening to disclose the victim’s communication with the suspect to her family.

Police said the suspect has been remanded to judicial custody, and efforts are on to identify more victims as the probe continues. (Maxim News)
