The fraudulent SMS messages, received within a span of three days, claimed that a traffic challan had been issued and contained suspicious links posing as official portals.

Recognising the attempt as a scam, the DCP did not click on the links. Instead, she immediately reported the messages on the Central Government’s Sanchar Saathi (SFC) portal and shared the details on social media to create public awareness.

Through her post on social, the DCP on Tuesday has cautioned citizens against clicking on unknown links and reminded them that genuine government traffic challan websites end only with “.gov.in”.

She urged the public to report such suspicious messages promptly to prevent financial fraud.

Increased awareness and quick reporting are key to curbing cybercrime, the officer said. (Maxim News)
