A degree student from Hyderabad died in a road accident in Kothagudem district on Saturday. The fatal incident took place at Indira Colony near Paloncha. The student was returning after a temple visit when the vehicle he was travelling in met with an accident. The crash resulted in his death on the spot and left seven others with serious injuries.
The deceased was identified as Rohith Patel, aged 19. He was a first year degree student studying at Gauthami Degree College in Hyderabad. According to the information available, Rohith had travelled to Sri Seetha Ramachandra Swamy Devasthanam at Bhadrachalam along with his friends for darshan. After the visit, the group began their return journey.
Meanwhile, while travelling in an auto rickshaw near Indira Colony in Paloncha, the vehicle hit a car moving in front. Following the impact, the auto rickshaw overturned on the road. Rohith Patel suffered fatal injuries in the accident and died on the spot. The sudden crash caused panic among those travelling and nearby residents.
However, seven other persons who were in the auto rickshaw sustained severe injuries in the same road accident. Locals rushed to the spot after noticing the overturned vehicle. Later, they shifted the injured to the Community Health Centre at Paloncha for medical treatment. Doctors began treatment immediately due to the seriousness of the injuries.
It was also reported that Rohith had earlier visited one of his friends who lives at Karakagudem in Paloncha mandal. The trip was part of the same visit during which the accident occurred. The tragic death has caused shock among friends, classmates, and local residents who knew the student.
Meanwhile, Paloncha town police reached the accident spot and began preliminary inquiries. Later, the police registered a case in connection with the road accident. They are examining the circumstances that led to the auto rickshaw overturning after hitting the car. Further investigation is underway to establish the sequence of events.
The degree student dies incident has once again highlighted the dangers of road accidents involving small passenger vehicles. The incident has left the family of the deceased in deep grief, while the injured continue to receive treatment at the hospital.
