- Delhi Assembly bomb threat claims 16 kg RDX planted
- Security tightened as police conduct searches in Assembly
Hyderabad, March 25: The Delhi Assembly received a fresh bomb threat email on Wednesday, triggering a major security alert. The message claimed that 16 kg of RDX IEDs had been planted inside the Assembly premises and would be detonated at 01.40 pm. Speaker Vijender Gupta received the email.
However, the Speaker’s OSD quickly informed the police and higher authorities. Soon after, security agencies swung into action. Police teams, along with dog squads, bomb squads, and disposal units, reached the Assembly complex and began extensive checks.
Meanwhile, officials conducted thorough searches across the premises. They examined every corner, including plants and small pots, to ensure safety. Authorities said they are taking all necessary steps to protect public representatives, media personnel, and visitors present at the Assembly.
Further, security has been tightened due to the serious nature of the threat. Officials remain on high alert because of the claim involving 16 kg of RDX. However, authorities have not confirmed the presence of any explosive so far.
This is not the first such incident. A similar threat email was received on Tuesday as well. That message was also addressed to Speaker Vijender Gupta. Therefore, security agencies have increased vigilance following repeated alerts.
In addition, several top leaders have received threat emails recently. These include Prime Minister Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, and Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. As a result, authorities had already conducted checks and enhanced security measures on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Assembly is currently holding its budget session. Despite the repeated threats, the proceedings are continuing without interruption. Officials continue to monitor the situation closely and maintain strict security across the premises.
