New Delhi, Sept. 12: Regular passenger flights between Delhi and Guangzhou will resume from September 21 after a gap of nearly six years.
China Southern Airlines announced the restart of services as Chinese President Xi Jinping visits India for the BRICS Summit.
The airline’s return marks the resumption of its India operations after several years.
The Delhi Guangzhou flights come as India and China work to restore air connectivity between the two countries.
Delhi Guangzhou Flights Set to Resume From September 21
The 18th BRICS Summit is being held at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on September 12 and 13.
Security has been tightened across the national capital for the summit. Around 15,000 police personnel and 200 paramilitary companies have been deployed.
Meanwhile, Air China resumed flights between Beijing and Delhi in April.
China Eastern Airlines also restarted services between Kunming and Kolkata from April 18.
The resumption of Delhi Guangzhou flights is expected to further expand direct air connectivity between India and China.
China Southern Airlines had previously operated services between the two countries before suspending its India operations.
The latest move comes during Xi Jinping’s visit to New Delhi for the BRICS Summit.
