Hyderabad: Security agencies placed Delhi on high alert after intelligence warned of a possible Lashkar e Taiba threat to target the Red Fort and nearby areas. Authorities tightened security across key locations in the national capital following inputs about a potential terror plot.
Intelligence Inputs Flag Red Fort and IED Plot
Officials said intelligence agencies received specific inputs about LeT operatives allegedly planning bomb blasts near the historic Red Fort using improvised explosive devices. Therefore, Delhi Police and central security agencies increased surveillance in sensitive zones. They also stepped up checks at crowded public places. Meanwhile, anti terror units remain on alert to prevent any possible attack.
According to intelligence inputs, LeT operatives are allegedly planning to carry out bomb blasts near the historic Red Fort using improvised explosive devices. The alert has prompted Delhi Police and central security agencies to go on high alert and intensify surveillance in sensitive zones.
Temple in Chandni Chowk Also Under Watch
Intelligence agencies also indicated that the suspected plot could be an attempt to avenge a recent explosion at a mosque in Islamabad, Pakistan, on February 6. Officials warned that the terror group may be planning a major attack in India in retaliation.
