New Delhi, May 30: The Special Cell of Delhi Police has arrested nine persons for allegedly plotting terror attacks at key locations across India. Officials said the suspects were picked up from different locations in Delhi, Mumbai and Punjab.
According to police, the accused allegedly maintained links with Inter-Services Intelligence and underworld figure Dawood Ibrahim. Authorities stated that some of the arrested individuals are foreign nationals.
Police said several weapons and other materials were recovered during the operation.
Investigation Focuses On Funding And Foreign Links
Investigators alleged that the group had identified sensitive targets, including airports, railway stations, power plants and other critical infrastructure facilities.
Officials said the suspects were also allegedly planning attacks on security personnel. The Special Cell had reportedly been monitoring the group for some time before carrying out the arrests.
Police are now investigating the alleged funding network behind the conspiracy and attempting to identify possible foreign handlers connected to the case.
Following the arrests, security agencies have increased vigilance in coordination with intelligence agencies and central security forces.
Officials said the investigation remains ongoing and further details will emerge after questioning of the accused and examination of the seized material.
The police have not yet disclosed the full extent of the alleged network or any specific timeline related to the planned attacks.
