Delhi Police | Hyderabad / New Delhi July 21 (Maxim News): Delhi Police have registered five First Information Reports (FIRs) following violent clashes between protesters and security personnel during a demonstration in the national capital.
Officials said additional cases may be filed as the investigation progresses.
The violence broke out on Monday when thousands of supporters of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) and students marched from Jantar Mantar towards Parliament.
The protesters demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged examination irregularities, including the NEET UG paper leak issue.
Police registered the FIRs at Connaught Place, Parliament Street, and other police stations covering the affected areas.
Delhi Police Intensify Probe into Protest Violence
Investigators have launched a detailed probe to identify those involved in the clashes. Police are examining more than 250 videos collected from mobile phones, CCTV cameras, drone footage, and body worn cameras used by police personnel during the protest.
Officials said the evidence will help identify the accused and determine their role in the violence.
According to Delhi Police, more than 118 personnel from the Delhi Police and Central Armed Police Forces sustained injuries while performing law and order duties. The injured included senior officers such as Special Commissioners, Joint Commissioners, Additional Commissioners, and Deputy Commissioners.
Police said the situation turned violent after protesters allegedly attempted to breach security barricades near the protest route. Security personnel intervened to prevent the crowd from moving toward restricted areas, leading to clashes.

Delhi Police Commissioner Anurag Kumar visited the injured personnel at the hospital and enquired about their health. He commended their dedication to duty and appreciated their efforts in maintaining public order.
In a statement, the Commissioner said every injury sustained by police personnel reflected their commitment to protecting public safety.
The protest began at Jantar Mantar and drew students, political leaders, and activists demanding greater accountability in the examination system. However, the demonstration later turned violent, prompting police action.
Meanwhile, prohibitory orders remain in force around sensitive areas to prevent further disturbances. Police have appealed to all political parties, student groups, and citizens to maintain peace and cooperate with law enforcement agencies.
Authorities said the investigation is continuing, and further legal action will depend on the findings of the ongoing inquiry. (Maxim News)
