New Delhi, Nov. 1: Delhi witnessed rival political mobilisations on Sunday as the Congress-led INDIA bloc and the BJP organised rallies over competing political narratives.
The INDIA bloc held its ‘Vote Chori’ rally at Ramlila Maidan. The Opposition alliance demanded the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged electoral irregularities.
The BJP organised a separate rally marking the anniversary of the 1984 anti-Sikh riots. The two events brought party workers from different states onto the streets of the national capital.
According to the figures cited in the report, around 45,000 people attended the INDIA bloc rally. The BJP’s rally reportedly drew around 5,000 participants.

Union Minister Hardeep Puri was named as the leader of the BJP rally. The party also organised counter-rallies in other states.

In Himachal Pradesh, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma was scheduled to lead a march. In Maharashtra, the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister planned a march opposing the Congress’s ‘Vote Chori’ allegations.
Party workers from Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Punjab gathered at different locations in Delhi. Congress, Samajwadi Party and Left parties mobilised supporters for the Ramlila Maidan rally.
The large gatherings affected traffic movement across parts of the capital. The mobilisation also raised concerns among traders about disruptions to business.
The rival programmes have turned the issue into a contest between the Opposition’s electoral irregularity allegations and the BJP’s counter-narrative.
