Hyderabad, Sept 16 (Maxim News): Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka said that energy efficiency is like an additional power plant. He called for focus on energy conservation along with power generation.
The Deputy CM attended the 25th ‘Energy Efficiency Summit-2026’ at the HICC Novotel Hotel on Wednesday morning as the chief guest, which was organized by the CII Energy Efficiency Council. On the occasion, speaking about energy efficiency, he said that a unit of electricity saved through conservation is more cost-effective than a unit of electricity generated.
He called upon not to look upon energy efficiency as only an environmental responsibility, but also as an approach to boost the economy’s competitiveness. The Deputy CM proposed to reduce electricity consumption by using advanced motors and cooling systems. He called to cut electricity wastage through effective energy management. He observed that reducing demand by even one megawatt of electricity will relieve the power system.
He said that electricity demand will further increase in the fast-developing Telangana, with rising power requirements in sectors like industry, manufacturing, data centers, life sciences, and electronics. He said that reducing peak demand will ease the burden on generators and the transmission system. He added that energy conservation will enhance national energy security. Bhatti said that there is no shortage of viable pilot projects in India. He called to increase energy efficiency by adopting renewables, electrification, and digitalization. He called to identify electricity wastage using artificial intelligence (AI) and make the consumption more efficient.
He suggested that in the future, factories should be transformed from being only electricity consumers to active players in the power system. He emphasized on transforming energy efficiency from a one-time checkup to a continual management system. He advocated for collaboration between the government, industries, technology companies, financial institutions, and educational institutions. Bhatti Vikramarka said that energy efficiency is the most practical approach towards sustainable development. (Maxim News)
