It is known that the ED officials arrested Kavitha on March 15 and took her to Delhi on charges of being involved in a liquor case.  After being taken to judicial custody after a week of ED custody, the CBI took her into their custody for two days and interrogated him during the investigation in April.  She was later announced to have been arrested.  Later, she was produced in court. Kavitha is currently in judicial custody after the court ordered her to be remanded for 14 days.

Kavitha filed two separate petitions in Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court seeking bail against the cases registered against her by the CBI and ED.  She challenged the order of the trial court in the Delhi High Court.  Kavitha’s lawyers argued that she was arrested on baseless charges and denied any opportunities despite being a key leader of a party.  While hearing arguments on behalf of ED and CBI, they told the court that Kavitha was a key player and mastermind in the Delhi liquor case.  It has been argued that if she is granted bail at a time when the Delhi liquor case is going on at a critical stage, there is a possibility of tampering with the evidence. Therefore, they requested that she should not be granted bail under any circumstances.
