The controversy has intensified after the BRS alleged that the government is trying to weaken the identity of Secunderabad in the name of redrawing districts.

Responding to these claims, Minister Ponnam Prabhakar strongly rejected the allegations stating that the BRS was spreading false propaganda about Secunderabad. He also said that the city’s identity will not be harmed in any manner.

Speaking to a news channel on Tuesday, Ponnam Prabhakar questioned the BRS leadership and questioned why the previous BRS government did not declare Secunderabad as a separate district when it created 33 districts in the state. He said the BRS had no moral right to raise concerns now.

The minister also criticised the earlier district formation process. He said the previous government created districts in an unscientific manner. Ponnam added that the present government would take any decision only after consulting all stakeholders.

According to him, public opinion will play a key role in the reorganisation process.

Meanwhile, Ponnam Prabhakar clarified another issue linked to district boundaries. He stated again that Husnabad would be merged with Karimnagar district. He said the government has been clear on this matter from the beginning.

The minister also took aim at BRS leaders, including KTR. He said they should first explain what they achieved during their rule before questioning the current administration. He accused them of trying to mislead the public for political gain. Political circles say the issue could have wider implications in the coming months.

However, the government maintains that no decision will be taken without consensus and clarity.

For now, the Telangana political landscape remains tense, with both sides trading sharp remarks over the future of district boundaries. (Maxim News)
