Divyang SARTHI Project Beta Version Launched In Hyderabad

Hyderabad: The Divyang SARTHI Project (Beta Version), which aims to strengthen digital accessibility and inclusive learning for persons with intellectual disabilities across the country, was launched today at Maulana Azad National Urdu University. The event was hosted by the Department of Computer Science and Information Technology of MANUU. The project is a national initiative supported by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India.
Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice Chancellor, formally launched the Divyang SARTHI Portal (Beta Version). He marked the launch as the beginning of the national deployment of digital learning modules, assessment tools and structured pedagogical support for stakeholders who work with individuals with intellectual disabilities. In his presidential address, he highlighted MANUU’s growing national role in socially impactful, technology enabled research and education. He also noted that the initiative reflects the university’s commitment to inclusive development.
Meanwhile, senior officials from MeitY and MANUU addressed the gathering. Dr Santosh Kumar Pandey, Additional Director at MeitY, shared his views on the ministry’s support for technology driven inclusion. Prof. Ishtiaque Ahmed, Registrar of MANUU, also spoke during the session. Later, Dr T. Vijaya Kumar, Head of CESD at NIRDPR, addressed participants and discussed the need for coordinated national efforts in this sector.
Prof. Abdul Wahid, Dean, School of Technology and Chief Investigator of the project, delivered the welcome address. He outlined the journey of the initiative since its sanctioning in December 2023. He explained how the team designed the project to meet the requirements of diverse learners and institutions.
The event also included special addresses by members of expert institutions. Dr Pankaj Maru, Chairman of the Expert Committee, delivered one of the special addresses. Shri Ganesh Ji, Head of Department at NIEPID, also shared his views on the project’s importance. Later, Prof. Pradeep Kumar, Head of the Department of Computer Science and IT, delivered a Vote of Thanks and acknowledged the contributions of all partners.
The launch marked an important step in expanding digital accessibility and ensuring structured learning support for individuals with intellectual disabilities nationwide.
