Donate Organs in Death: Harish Rao

Hyderabad, April 23 (Maxim News): Health Minister T Harish Rao urged people to come forward voluntarily and pledge to donate their organs in death.

The Minister on Saturday felicitated the family members of those deceased, whose organs were donated, and congratulated them for agreeing to donate the organs of their loved ones.

On the occasion, Minister Harish Rao said that even though the medicine has reached very advanced level in technically, the organs like heart, kidney and liver are unable to create artificially, replacing the damaged ones.

The shortage of organs means millions of people continue to live life in pain, and at times counting their days to end and this pain can be halted by people who pledge to donate their organs in death, Harish Rao said and added that for people suffering from serious illness, organ transplantation is the only hope. Donating organs will not only help save others’ lives but will help you continue to live in those who receive the organs.

Stating that sofar over 1,000 deceased people had donated their organs which benefited to over 4,000 patients in Telangana, Health Minister Harish Rao said that the State government has launched the online enrollment facility for those seeking the organ transplantation and its process is being held in a transparent manner.

“Till the moment in Telangana, over 8,000 people suffering from serious illness got enrolled their names on the Jeevandhan portal and have been waiting for their turn of organ transplantation,” Harish Rao informed.

The Minister also said that the organ transplantation surgeries are being made in the government-run hospitals which kind of facility is nowhere in the country.

” So far, over 400 organ transplantation surgeries have been taken place only in Gandhi, Osmania and NIMS hospitals and the State government is extending the financial assistance of Rs. 10 lakh and Rs.20,000 for medical expenses to those who underwent the organ transplantation,” Harish Rao said.

Fisheries Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav said that under the leadership of Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, the infrastructure and other facilities have improved drastically in the government-run hospitals and the footfall of patients has increased across the State.
