Hyderabad: The VII Additional Sessions Judge, Nampally, has pronounced judgment in a decade-old double murder case, sentencing the prime accused to life imprisonment. The case relates to a fatal incident that took place in 2015 in Mallepally under PS Humayun Nagar limits.

According to the brief facts, on June 4, 2015, at about 01:30 hrs, PC A. Mallesham and PC Madhavarao of PS Humayun Nagar noticed a fire in an under-construction apartment in Mallepally while on patrol. They entered the premises and found a woman, Sultana Begum, with severe burn injuries. Before she succumbed, she stated that the accused, Shaik Hussain, had been harassing her and she suspected his role in the arson. Meanwhile, her husband Kurmaiah sustained fatal injuries in the same incident and passed away.

Double murder case conviction pronounced by VII Additional Sessions Judge

After a full trial in SC No. 220/2016, arising out of Cr. No. 153/2015 under Section 302 IPC, the Judge Sri B. Sujay found the accused Shaik Hussain, aged 56, guilty. On 27-02-2026, the court sentenced the accused to undergo Life Imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs. 1,000/-. In default of payment of the fine, the accused shall undergo simple imprisonment for one additional month.

The investigation was led by S. Ravinder, the then Inspector of PS Humayun Nagar, who is currently serving as ACP, EOW, Cyberabad. The prosecution was effectively conducted by A. Phani Kumar, Additional Public Prosecutor Grade I. Meanwhile, support staff included CDO S. Mallesh Naik (PC 30744) and Process Duty G. Raju (PC 2881).

The investigation and trial were closely supervised by Sri G. Chandra Mohan, DCP, South West Zone, Sri Krishna Goud, Additional DCP, and Sri B. Kishan Kumar, ACP, Asifnagar. The team members, including Inspector S. Mallesh and supporting staff, were suitably rewarded for their efforts in securing the conviction. The details were issued by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner of Police, South West Zone, Hyderabad.
