Hyderabad, Aug.2 (Maxim News): The draft policy on solid waste management rules was discussed at a meeting held at secretariat today with MA&UD Principal Secretary Arvind Kumar, Director Dr T K Sridevi and Prof. Srinivas Chary of the ASCI participating.
Speaking on the occasion, Arvind Kumar said draft solid waste management policy should be re-looked keeping in view of the 68 newly formed municipalities. He also stressed the need to work out a strategy to improve source segregation, transportation, processing and disposal of garbage in the newly constituted municipalities. Door-to-door garbage collection system and segregation of garbage shall be improved in all the urban local bodies in the State, he added. He said instructions should be issued to all ULBs to strictly enforce rules on effective treatment of bio medical waste.
Director of Municipal Administration Dr T K Sridevi said 40 ULBs are manufacturing compost while 30 dry resource collection centers were functioning in the ULBs. (Maxim News)
