Hyderabad, March 31: Droupadi Murmu addressed the second convocation ceremony of Nalanda University, underlining its global importance. She said the restoration of Nalanda marks not just a national achievement but also the beginning of an intellectual and cultural renaissance for the world.
During her address, Droupadi Murmu emphasised that Nalanda University has grown as a Centre of International Excellence. She noted that the institution reflects shared global values through cooperation with East Asia Summit member nations. Therefore, the university holds a unique position in promoting international academic collaboration.
Meanwhile, Droupadi Murmu also praised the university’s efforts to connect with the local community. She said such initiatives strengthen both education and society. She further stated that Nalanda University will play a vital role in achieving the goal of a ‘Developed India’ by 2047. This, she suggested, highlights the institution’s importance in the country’s long-term vision.
At the event, Droupadi Murmu distributed degrees and titles to students from thirty-one countries. This reflected the diverse and international nature of the university. Later, she inaugurated the Centre for South–East Asian Studies on the campus. She also inaugurated the ‘Vishwamitralaya’ Auditorium, which has a seating capacity of 2,000.
The ceremony was also addressed by Syed Ata Hasnain and S. Jaishankar. Their presence added significance to the occasion, which brought together students and dignitaries from different parts of the world.
Overall, Droupadi Murmu’s address highlighted the importance of Nalanda University in shaping global education and cultural exchange. The event marked a key moment in the university’s continued development as an international academic hub.
