Dussehra Navarathri Festival Begins At Vijayawada
Vijayawada, Sept.29 (Maxim News): The nine-day Dussehra festival celebrations at Sri Kanakadurga temple atop Indrakeeladri hill begun on Sunday. The temple was decorated with illumination and flowers for the occasion. “Goddess Durga will appear as “Swarna Kavachalankruta Durga Devi” on the first day of the nine-day festival. The devotees were being allowed to have darshan from 9 am.
Chief priest of the temple Stanacharyulu, said the devotees will be allowed to have darshan from 3 am to 11 pm in the remaining eight days beginning from Monday. The temple will provide free meals, free drinking water and buttermilk to the devotees in the queues. The chief priest said Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy will offer silk sari to the Goddess on October 5 on the occasion of goddess Durga’s birth star “Moola”.
Endowments Minister Velampalli Srinivas has taken the responsibility to organize the festival with fervor,” said Poorna Chandra Rao, Regional Joint Commissioner, Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam. A special control room has been set up at the guest house which is at the footsteps of Indrakeeladri hill to supervise the devotees’ traffic, he added. (Maxim News)
