- Economic Survey backs BRS rule, counters Congress claims
- KTR cites Economic Survey on Telangana development
The Economic Survey 2025-26 has vindicated the decade-long rule of the BRS government in Telangana, BRS working president KT Rama Rao said on Thursday. He stated that the survey dealt a blow to what he described as the Congress government’s diversion politics. He also said the findings weakened the narrative built around issuing notices to BRS chief and former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao in the alleged phone-tapping case.
KT Rama Rao said the Congress government repeatedly tried to downplay the development achieved during the BRS tenure. However, he asserted that these efforts had failed. According to him, the Economic Survey clearly highlighted the progress Telangana made over the last decade under BRS rule. Therefore, he said the report stood as strong evidence against what he called diversionary tactics by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.
Economic Survey highlights Telangana progress under BRS
In a statement, Rama Rao said the Economic Survey had vividly showcased Telangana’s achievements during the BRS government’s ten-year rule. He reminded that national institutions and global publications had earlier acknowledged Telangana’s governance model. He said bodies such as the Reserve Bank of India and NITI Aayog had recognised the state’s performance. He also noted that international publications like The Economist had spoken positively about Telangana. “The Central Government’s Economic Survey now adds to that list of recognition,” he said.
He further referred to key data cited in the Economic Survey. According to the report, the cultivated area in Telangana rose sharply from 1.31 crore acres in 2014 to 2.2 crore acres by 2023. He said this expansion reflected the impact of policies implemented during the BRS rule. Meanwhile, he credited major irrigation initiatives for this growth.
KTR credits irrigation schemes for agriculture growth
KT Rama Rao pointed out that the Economic Survey attributed the increase in cultivated area to flagship programmes such as the Kaleshwaram Lift Irrigation Scheme and Mission Kakatiya. He said these initiatives played a key role in strengthening agriculture across the state. “These schemes have been instrumental in providing irrigation water to an additional 89 lakh acres over nine years,” he said.
He added that the irrigation gains highlighted the BRS government’s focus on rural development and agriculture. Therefore, he said the survey served as validation of the policies pursued during the BRS tenure. Meanwhile, Rama Rao maintained that the Congress government’s attempts to divert attention from these achievements would not stand against documented data in the Economic Survey. He asserted that the report had reinforced the BRS narrative on governance and development in Telangana.
