Hyderabad: Education key to minority progress, said Government Advisor Mohammed Ali Shabbir while addressing a gathering in Zaheerabad. He spoke after inaugurating Masjid e Aliya Jawad in Aswin Colony, Adarsh Nagar. He stressed that long term progress for the Muslim community depends on education and welfare measures.

Shabbir Ali said the mosque was completed with collective effort. He added that construction of places of worship carries spiritual and social value. He said such projects serve future generations. He thanked the mosque committee and local residents for their support.

He noted that mosques are centres of prayer, discipline and unity. Therefore, he urged the community to keep them active through regular prayers. He also called for greater participation during Ramzan. He appealed to people to discharge zakat sincerely so that no poor family remains unsupported.

Shabbir Ali devoted much of his speech to education. He said the first command in the Quran emphasised learning. However, he stated that the Muslim community had lagged behind in modern education indicators. He referred to findings that highlighted educational backwardness. Therefore, he said focused policy steps were introduced during his tenure.

He highlighted the 4% reservation for Muslims in education and employment. He described it as a transformative step. He said it opened access to professional courses for thousands of students in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh. He added that fee reimbursement and institutional support helped students pursue medicine, engineering and management.

According to him, the policy changed many households over two decades. Families that lacked higher education earlier now have children as doctors and engineers. He said this improved social and economic standing. He also cited students who specialised in neurology and super speciality fields.

He further noted the expansion of medical and professional education in the state. Increased seats in medical colleges and stronger law colleges created new opportunities. He urged madrasa committees to combine religious teaching with computer and English education. He said unity, discipline and responsible conduct are essential for progress.
