Hyderabad, August 28: Eight Indian-origin US nationals went missing in Nepal on August 26, 2026. The group was travelling to Mount Kailash and Mansarovar through Nepal.
Their families lost contact with them at around 8:30 am Nepal time on August 26. The last known location was the Rasuwagadhi Immigration Office near the Nepal-China border.
According to families, the group travelled through Classic Vacations, a Nepal-based travel agency. US-based Anil Goel had collaborated with Chet Prasad Bhatta, said to be the MD of Classic Vacations, for the arrangements.
However, there has been no response from the agency. Families also contacted the Mumbai office of the agency. It is operational but has not provided useful information.
Furthermore, the eight missing persons are US citizens with roots primarily in Telangana and Karnataka. All eight were part of the same travel group.
Families have been desperately trying to reach them since August 26 morning. As a result, families have now made an urgent public appeal for information.

The eight missing persons are:
Laxminath Gopisetty, Sudhindra Yapalparvi, Sudhir Rangu, Keshav Rao Tadipatri, Vivek Shankar Srivastav, Venkataraman Balasubramanyam, Venkatakrishna Bangalore Raghunatharao, and Kriti Kumar Acharya. All are US citizens.
Moreover, families have appealed to the Government of India for immediate assistance.
They have also sought urgent help from the Indian Embassy in Nepal, Nepalese authorities, and immigration officials at Rasuwagadhi.
Additionally, they have urged the travel agency to share any available information about the group’s movements.
Meanwhile, the Rasuwagadhi area sits at a key crossing point on the Nepal-China border. It serves as an entry point for pilgrims travelling to Kailash Mansarovar via Nepal. Consequently, this route passes through remote high-altitude terrain.
Communication in this zone can be unreliable, but the extended silence has alarmed families.
Furthermore, every minute matters according to the families. They are anxiously awaiting news of the group’s safety.
Anyone with information about the whereabouts or movement of any of the eight individuals near Rasuwagadhi, Nepal, must contact the families immediately.
