Hyderabad: Emmanuel Macron India Visit will begin on the 17th of this month, as the French president arrives for a three day visit. He will hold talks with Prime Minister Modi during his stay in India.
According to official information, the two leaders will focus on strengthening ties between the two countries. They will discuss key areas such as trade and defense. Meanwhile, Macron will land in Mumbai on the 17th. There, he will inaugurate the India France year of Innovation with Modi. The two leaders are also likely to hold bilateral talks in Mumbai.
“Modi and Macron will discuss the issues mentioned in the Horizon-2047 roadmap,” the Indian ministry of External Affairs said. The Horizon roadmap was unveiled during the talks between Modi and Macron in 2023. Therefore, the discussions during the Emmanuel Macron India Visit are expected to build on earlier agreements.
Later, Macron will travel to Delhi. He will participate in the AI Impact Summit to be held in Delhi on the 19th. The summit forms an important part of his three day visit. Meanwhile, a major defense agreement is also likely during the trip. A deal for the supply of 114 Rafale fighter jets to India is likely to be signed during Macron’s visit. The contract is worth Rs. 3.25 lakh crore. If finalized, it will be the largest defense deal in the country’s history.
Overall, the Emmanuel Macron India Visit will cover trade, defense, innovation and artificial intelligence. The visit is scheduled from the 17th and will last three days. With high level talks and possible agreements, the focus remains on strengthening India France ties.
