  • Jafer Hussain Miraj flags pending assurance and Urdu issues

He said the government had given assurances several times on regularising notary documents. However, he pointed out that the demand remains unaddressed. He added that the issue was repeatedly raised by Akbaruddin Owaisi. Meanwhile, Miraj expressed concern that lakhs of poor families still hold only notary documents for their homes.

He stated that if the government regularises these documents, it will benefit both people and the state. He said the government can generate revenue, while poor families can gain economic protection. This, he noted, will help them secure loans, especially for their daughters’ marriages. He also questioned the policy approach. He said oral deeds are accepted under regularisation schemes, but notary documents are not. Therefore, he demanded that the government implement the assurance immediately.

Meanwhile, Meraj raised concerns about the status of the Urdu language. He remarked, “URDU BOLTE MEETHE, PAR IMPLEMENT NAHI KARTE”. He said that although Urdu is declared the second official language in the state, there is no system to accept applications in Urdu in offices. He also highlighted a shortage of Urdu medium teachers in government schools. He added that there has been no visible change after the declaration of Urdu as the second official language.

Further, he spoke about issues related to minorities and urban development. He said the allocation of merged funds of Rs. 23 crores to the Quli Qutub Shah Urban Development Authority is only sufficient for salaries. He noted that no funds are available for development works. He also pointed out delays in constructing double bedroom houses for the poor across city constituencies.

He said several infrastructure works remain pending. These include contractor works, road widening in Old City areas like Chandrayangutta, and repairs of flyovers built around ten years ago. He added that promises such as establishing junior colleges, water reservoirs, and market yards have not been implemented.

Miraj also highlighted administrative concerns. He said that despite the division of GHMC into three corporations, there is a shortage of staff. He added that there are not enough senior engineering officials to carry out works effectively. Therefore, he urged the government to address these issues without delay.
