Hyderabad, Oct. 2 (Maxim News): Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has directed officials to complete arrangements for centralised community kitchens being established to provide breakfast to government school students across the state.
The directions came after Junnа Solar Systems and Chain Labs India signed agreements with the Hare Krishna Movement Charitable Foundation in the Chief Minister’s presence.
The companies will support the foundation in setting up modern centralised community kitchens in Nagarkurnool and Vikarabad.
Junnа Solar Systems CMD Shekhar Reddy and CEO Anil Babu handed over a cheque for ₹5.17 crore to the Hare Krishna Foundation for the Nagarkurnool kitchen.
Chain Labs India representative D. Sumanth and Vice-President Bugatha Santosh Kumar handed over a ₹4 crore cheque for the Vikarabad kitchen.
The representatives met Revanth Reddy at his Jubilee Hills residence. The Chief Minister thanked the companies for extending financial support to the breakfast programme.
Revanth Sets Timeline for Statewide Breakfast Kitchens
Revanth Reddy directed officials to ensure that the centralised kitchens are completed by November 30 and launched across the state simultaneously by December 9.
He also instructed officials to facilitate visits by students to the kitchens established in their respective areas. The initiative is being expanded through a network of centralised kitchens, building on breakfast programmes already operating in parts of Telangana.
The state government has been working to expand the breakfast programme beyond the initial Kodangal model. In January, the Chief Minister directed officials to examine statewide implementation and prepare plans for centralised kitchens, with Akshaya Patra representatives saying the programme could be expanded with adequate land and support.
The Chief Minister also called for maintaining track records of government school students.
These records should cover their physical growth and educational progress, with updates made periodically.
He suggested using apps to calculate the calorie content of food served to students. He said the quality of breakfast should be continuously monitored and necessary precautions taken.
Revanth Reddy further directed officials to prepare breakfast menus according to local food habits and preferences. He said the programme was intended as a long-term initiative and suggested connecting the centralised kitchens with the command control centre for monitoring.
Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka was not listed among the participants in the supplied programme details.
Ministers Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy and Mohammed Azharuddin, Rajya Sabha MP Vem Narender Reddy and Hare Krishna Movement Charitable Foundation representative Satya Gaura Chandra Dasa Swamiji were among those who attended.
The expansion comes as Telangana continues to establish centralised kitchens in different districts.
A recent Medak facility, for example, was designed to provide breakfast to 29,183 students across 395 government schools and 10 junior colleges. (Maxim News)
