Hyderabad, Oct. 22: More than 150 contract and outsourcing workers at ESI Hospital in Nacharam staged a strike on Thursday, protesting four months of unpaid salaries.
The workers, representing various cadres, criticised health authorities and contractors for allegedly failing to ensure timely salary payments.
AITUC State General Secretary M. Narasimha led the protest and questioned the conflicting claims made by hospital authorities and contractors regarding salary disbursement.
He said the hospital administration had assured employees that salaries would be paid on the first of every month. However, workers continued to face delays, leaving them without wages for four months.
ESI Hospital Workers Demand Immediate Salary Payments
The protesting workers said they had submitted a representation to the hospital superintendent a month ago. They also staged a one-hour protest on October 13.

According to the workers, contractors promised to clear the pending salaries by October 19 but failed to fulfil the commitment. They said this prompted them to launch the strike on Thursday.
The workers demanded immediate payment of all pending salaries and urged the authorities to intervene.
They also warned that they would lay siege to the State Labour Minister’s office if their demands were not addressed.
