Everyone will support my mother if they come to know her: Droupadi Murmu’s daughter

As the Presidential election draws closer, Itishree Murmu, the daughter of NDA’s Presidential candidate Droupadi Murmu, on Thursday said that everyone will support her mother if they come to know her.

Itishree Murmu recalled that Droupadi Murmu is a strict mother and a teacher.

“She was my teacher at school as well, so there was added pressure on me. First as a daughter and then as a student. My friends used to be angry on me when my mother used to take these surprise tests,” Itishree said recounting her younger days.

Droupadi Murmu was a teacher at Sri Aurobindo Integral Education and Research Centre at Rairangpur in Odisha before the start of her political career.

Droupadi Murmu stays in Odisha’s Rairangpur with her daughter Itishree and brother Tarinisen. Itishree works as a manager at UCO Bank in Bhubaneswar.

With her two daughters, Itishree said that she would like to stay with her mother, even if she gets elected as the President of India.

When questioned if female-led parties like Congress and TMC should support her mother due to the woman factor or not, Itishree said all opposition parties should try and get to know the human being her mother is.

“Every party should, be it opposition or not, try and get to know about my mother. How she is and what she believes in. I am sure if they do so, they will support my mother,” said Itishree.

The BJP-led NDA announced Droupadi Murmu as its Presidential candidate on Tuesday evening, while the Opposition parties announced the name of former Finance Minister Yashwant Sinha as their choice for the topmost post in the country.
