Challenges and Considerations

According to current regulations, villages outside the ORR should not be merged. However, since these villages are part of existing municipalities, there is a push to include them in the merger. This has raised concerns about potential repercussions, with neighboring areas and residents possibly demanding similar treatment if villages beyond the ORR are integrated. As a result, these villages might instead be categorized as city panchayats.

Requests for Mergers Under Review

Authorities are also reviewing requests from various cities and panchayats that seek to merge their villages with adjacent suburban municipalities. The ongoing evaluation aims to ensure a seamless integration that aligns with urban planning objectives and meets the needs of the communities involved.
