Facsimile copy of Nizams’ farmans released by Iran ambassador
Hyderabad, Mar 3 (Maxim News): H.E. Dr. Irajllah, Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, New Delhi has visited State Archives and released the first facsimile copy of farmans of Nizam the VII Mir Osman Ali Khan here today.
He visited the State Archives along with Mehdi Shahrokhi, Council General of Iran at Hyderabad in the perspective of an initiative taken up by the Government of Iran under which Noor Microfilm International Centre, New Delhi started the work of digitization, conservation, and cataloging of the old archival records, particularly in the Persian language.

Tarak Rama Rao, Minister for Municipal Administration and Urban Development, IT and Industries, Hon’ble Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, H.E. Dr. Ali Chegini and Jayesh Ranjan, IAS.
Prl Secretary to, ITE Department to take up the conservation, digitization, and cataloging work of classical Persian and Urdu language documents of no-confidential nature on a voluntary basis with no financial burden on the Government treasury.
H.E. Dr. Irajllah said that the relationship between Iran with India has always been friendly and there are many cultural exchanges between the two countries. As Persian is their national language, they are eager to save the heritage of the Persian language in India which was once the national language of this country too.
Dr. Zareena Parveen, Director of State Archives said that the records of State Archives, dating back to 1406 A.D., are not of confidential nature and largely in ornamental Persian language till 1885 A.D. With a quantum of several million, the NMIC was entrusted with the work to safeguard an already brittle record to give it a new lease of life. She said the records are centuries old and getting delicate and brittle day by day despite routine maintenance of the records. It needs professional curative treatment by experienced hands. After the conservation of the said records longevity may increase and the glorious and precious history of Hyderabad Deccan may be secured for posterity.
Dr. Khajapiri, Director of NMIC said that he is honored to get the opportunity to work for the Telangana State Archives, which is one of the largest institutions in India. He said that his agency NMIC has already rendered its services for the major government institutions of India including the National Archives of India, Jamia Millia Islamia, Rampur Raza Library, and other 25 big institutions. As Iran is famous for the herbal treatment of paper and cloth its conservation method for Archival Paper is very rare.
He informed the Ambassador that so far, three lakh pages of the old Persian records pertaining to Dafter-Darul Insha, Treaties, Manuscripts (Handwritten) Books, Awarjaas (Ledgers), Baba Shah Musaafir (a Sufi Saint of Hyderabad-Deccan) Inayat Nama (Letters), Farmans (Royal Orders) of Nizam VI & VII. Apart from these repairs of the brittle documents have been done under the conservation of records program. The cataloging of the ornamental Persian records is being done simultaneously.
There were 14 daftars of the Nizam government which will all be taken up for the said work apart from farmans, Muntakhabs, old maps, and gazettes. He said the Director, State Archives has requested that all the 355 chicket (bounded books) books of Farmans of Nizam the VI & VII and other necessary books be made into facsimile copies for the usage of the scholars and others.
Later the Ambassador and Consul General visited the Unit with the state-of-the-art equipment and specialized manpower in the field of conservation and digitization set up in the premises of the State Archives. He witnessed the demonstration of the conservation method of treating old historic documents by using herbal ingredients and was very much impressed. He praised the quality of work that has been completed so far. He appreciated the total cooperation and enthusiasm of the Archives Department as well. He was in awe of the huge quantum of records preserved in the archives when he visited the large stack area housing rare and historic documents in an impressive category.
Mahesh Reddy, Deputy Director, Ali Nirooman, the Regional Director NMIC, Mohd Abdul Raqeeb asst. Director and Coordinating Officer, G. Srikanth and Sandhya Rani, Assistant Directors were also present. (Maxim News)
