Farmer Suicide in Adilabad Triggers KTR Attack on Congress Government
Farmer Suicide in Adilabad | Adilabad / Hyderabad, March 22: A farmer suicide in Adilabad district has triggered sharp political reactions, with BRS Working President KT Rama Rao blaming the Congress government for the death. He termed the incident a government failure and demanded accountability.
KTR stated that the farmer died after the government failed to procure his soybean crop. He alleged that the farmer faced severe financial stress due to mounting debts. Therefore, he described the death as a result of policy neglect.
According to KTR, he visited the Adilabad market yard on November 18 along with local BRS leaders. He said he wanted to understand the problems faced by farmers struggling to sell their produce. During that visit, he met farmer Tudum Ganapati from Arli B village.
KTR recalled that Ganapati spoke to the media with tears. He said the farmer complained that traders did not purchase his soybean crop even after waiting four days at the market yard. Moreover, the farmer expressed fear about rising debts.
KTR further claimed that Ganapati said he had no option except death if the government failed to buy his crop. He also alleged that the farmer did not receive loan waiver benefits. In addition, he said the farmer did not get Rythu Bharosa assistance.
Farmer Suicide in Adilabad Raises Procurement Concerns
KTR said financial pressure increased on the farmer due to pending debts. As a result, he claimed the farmer died by suicide three days ago. He argued that the death reflects gaps in crop procurement policy.
He also accused the Revanth Reddy government of ignoring farmers’ distress. He said the previous BRS government supported farmers through welfare schemes. However, he alleged the current administration failed to continue the same level of support.
KTR criticised the Congress government’s handling of agriculture. He claimed farmer friendly governance has weakened in the state. He also demanded immediate steps to protect farmers from distress.
There was no immediate response from the Congress government on these allegations. Officials have not yet released a detailed statement on the procurement issue or the farmer’s death.
Farmer suicides remain a sensitive issue in Telangana. Agriculture experts often link such deaths to debt, market access issues, and price uncertainty. Policymakers continue to debate procurement reforms and farmer welfare measures.
