Farmers Are the Soul of Telangana: Governor in Budget Speech

Hyderabad, Mar 12 (Maxim News): The Telangana Assembly Budget Session began with Governor Jishnu Dev Verma addressing both houses on Wednesday. In his speech, he emphasized the government’s commitment to inclusive development, particularly for farmers, women, and youth.

This budget is being presented to fulfill the dreams of the people of Telangana. Our government is focused on the welfare of all sections of society, with a special emphasis on farmers, who are the soul of the state. We are committed to their growth and prosperity,” he said.

Highlighting Telangana’s rich cultural heritage, the Governor mentioned the contributions of Gaddar and Anjaiah and reiterated the government’s dedication to social justice and progress. He noted the unveiling of the Telangana Thalli statue at the Secretariat as a symbol of pride.

On the agriculture sector, he stated that Telangana remains one of the top grain-producing states in the country. The government has waived farm loans, benefiting 23.35 lakh farmers, and is providing ₹12,000 per acre under Rythu Bharosa. Additionally, initiatives like Rythu Nestham and a ₹500 bonus per paddy crop have been introduced, along with the establishment of an Agricultural Commission.

Speaking on welfare schemes, he called the Mahalaxmi Scheme a “game changer,” ensuring free bus travel for women across the state.
