Farmers falling prey to monstrous plans of BJP-TRS Govts: Revanth

Hyderabad/New Delhi, December 22: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President & MP A. Revanth Reddy has alleged that lakhs of Telangana farmers were falling prey to the monstrous plans of BJP-TRS Govt for the last two months.

He was addressing a joint press conference with Congress MPs N. Uttam Kumar Reddy and Komatireddy Venkatreddy and TPCC Campaign Committee Chairman Madhu Yashki Goud.

Revanth Reddy alleged that TRS Govt in Telangana and BJP Govt at the Centre have jointly conspired to cheat the farmers using blame game, deception and falsehood as their tools. He said that the entire blame game over paddy procurement was scripted and well-coordinated. This is reportedly being done on the advice of a political strategist Sunil, who is closely associated with both Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao. He said he would expose the entire nexus between TRS and BJP on his return to Hyderabad from New Delhi.

The TPCC Chief said that the meeting of TRS MPs with Union Agriculture Minister Piyush Goyal and the meeting of Telangana BJP leaders with Amit Shah on the same day (on Tuesday) in New Delhi was pre-decided and the outcomes were made public in a manner that they left the farmers in a state of confusion.

Commenting on the meeting between Telangana BJP leaders and Amit Shah, Revanth Reddy said it was ridiculous on behalf of the Home Minister to suggest his partymen campaign in Telangana on the plank of irregularities and corruption of KCR and his family. “Union Minister Kishan Reddy and Telangana BJP President Bandi Sanjay alleged repeatedly that KCR had indulged in huge corruption and he will land in jail. But they never lodged any written complaint with their party’s government at the Centre. Further, if Amit Shah has proof of KCR’s corruption, then he can directly order a probe by the Enforcement Directorate, CBI, Income Tax or other Central agencies. By not taking any action against KCR, BJP leaders have proved that they were having a secret tie-up with the TRS. Which ‘invisible power’ is stopping the BJP Govt from taking action against KCR?” he asked.

Similarly, he said that the TRS MPs’ meeting with Piyush Goyal was just an eyewash with no clear agenda. “Piyush Goyal already made a statement on the floor of the Parliament that the Centre would purchase 60 lakh MTs of paddy from Telangana. Whatever a minister says outside may not be treated as accountable. But a statement made in the House has legal binding. Therefore, the paddy produced during Vanakalam must be a non-issue. However, TRS MPs are trying to make it appear as a big issue despite the fact that they did not extract any commitment from the Union Minister on paddy procurement for Yasangi season,” he said.

Revanth Reddy said that the TRS MPs enacted the drama of boycotting the Parliament on the pretext of visiting the farmers in villages. In reality, they escaped from the Parliament to avoid supporting the opposition parties who were demanding the dismissal of Ajay Mishra from the Union Cabinet. The protest by TRS MPs and then boycott was aimed at shielding the Modi Govt from the wrath of the entire opposition. Later, they enacted fresh dramas to keep cheating the paddy farmers of Telangana, he alleged.

The TPCC Chief said that TRS-BJP combine were trying to capture maximum media attention to give a false impression that Congress does not exist in Telangana. However, their nexus got busted as farmers realised that only the Congress party was fighting for their rights.

Revanth Reddy said that KCR, who announced to wage a war against BJP Govt in Delhi, has gone into hiding while his family is looting the resources of Telangana by all possible means. He pointed out that the Telangana Govt issued a Front Page advertisements in TRS mouthpiece Namasthe Telangana today regarding the salary hike for Home Guards and release of funds for Dalit Bandhu scheme. He said the advertisement amount goes into the pockets of KCR family and neither Home Guards nor Dalits benefit from the same.

The TPCC Chief said that the Congress party would expose both TRS and BJP by conducting ‘Rachabanda with farmers’ programme from 24th December to 3rd January 2022.

Speaking on the issue, Uttam Kumar Reddy said that farmers have suffered huge losses in the Kharif season due to the negligence of TRS Govt. It did not make adequate arrangements for gunny bags, transportation or IKP centres. The unseasonal rains too caused heavy damage and CM KCR was directly responsible for all the losses.

He said that paddy production in the last Rabi season was no nearly 52 lakh acres. He said it was ridiculous on the part of the TRS Govt to ask farmers to complete drop paddy cultivation in the next season. He said that the entire rice produced in Telangana could be exported if the State Government gives an incentive of Rs. 3,000 Crore. He said that the Congress party would write a detailed letter to the Chief Minister in this regard.

He said everyone knows that the TRS Govt was fully mired in corruption and irregularities. But the BJP’s Central Govt was not taking any action against KCR due to their secret friendship.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said that the Congress party raised several important issues concerning Telangana during the winter session of Parliament. He said the privatisation of four coal blocks in Singareni Collieries was strongly opposed. In a written reply on SC and ST reservation, the Centre has revealed that the State Govt did not send any proposal to increase the quota for these communities while KCR has been cheating the people in Telangana promising enhancement in reservation percentage.

Bhongir MP Komatireddy Venkatreddy blamed the TRS Govt for the current agriculture crisis in Telangana. He said a majority of paddy farmers were denied MSP and they were deliberately pushed into an economic crisis. He reminded that it was the Congress party that started IKP centres to procure farmers’ produce and the previous Congress-led UPA Govt enhanced MSP for paddy from Rs. 400 to Rs. 1,000 in a single shot. Further, it also waived off crop loans of nearly Rs. 60,000 crore in a single take to relieve the farmers from their debts.

He announced that the Congress party would expose the failures of TRS Govt and its unholy nexus with the BJP in Telangana State.

Madhu Yaski Goud alleged that the TRS Govt indulged in a scam of Rs. 18,000 crore during paddy procurement. He said that rice millers purchased paddy from the farmers by paying just Rs. 1300-1400. But the KCR Govt procured 53 lakh metric tonnes of paddy from the rice millers by paying MSP of Rs. 1,940.

He said if the BJP was sincere, then it should order a probe into the paddy procurement in Telangana. Else, it would be assumed that the BJP leaders too have a share in Rs. 18,000 crore scam committed by the TRS leaders. (Maxim News)
