Farmers welfare is main aim of Telangana: KTR

Rajanna Sircilla: Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister K T Rama Rao on Friday reiterated that welfare of farmers remained the primary main of the State government, which had implemented several initiatives to protect the interests of the farming community.

The State government, Rama Rao said, has constituted a cluster for every 5,000 acres of land to bring about awareness among the farming community to cultivate crops that have high demand in markets.

Speaking after inaugurating Rythu Vedika in Baddenapalli of Thangallapalli mandal, the Minister said that besides constructing a Rythu Vedika in every cluster, an agricultural extension officer (AEO) was appointed for every cluster to unite and educate farmers at grassroots level to produce crops that are in demand. “Farmers are now cultivating crops with advice from AEOs and Rythu Bandhu Samithi presidents. The AEOs are playing a vital role in giving advice to farmers about the crops suitable for cultivation in a particular area. For the first time in the country, 2,603 Rythu Vedhikas were constructed across the State for the convenience of farmers,” the Minister said.

Explaining about schemes being implemented in the State for the welfare of the farming community, the Minister said besides the 24 hour free power supply, Rythu Bandhu and Rythu Bima schemes have been implemented. So far, Rs 50,000 crore have been deposited into the bank accounts of farmers under the Rythu Bandhu scheme.

Stating that parched lands in the district had turned into lush green fields with Godavari water now flowing into the district, Rama Rao said the ground water table in the district has scaled to six meter height with the completion of Annapurna and Rajarajeshwara projects as well as the under construction Malkapeta reservoir.

Trainee IAS officers, who are undergoing training in Lal Bahadur Shastry Academy of Administation, Mussoirue, are being taught about the record increase in ground water table in Rajanna Sircilla district, which is an honour, Rama Rao said, adding that no other State in the country was implementing welfare schemes being implemented in Telangana.

TSCAB chairman Konduri Ravinder Rao, MLC Bhanu Prasad Rao, Zilla Parishad chairperson Nyalakonda Aruna, Manakondur MLA Rasamai Balkishan, collector Anuraj Jayanthi and others participated in the proramme.
