Nirmala Sitharaman hits back at Manmohan Singh over economy remark

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman reacted angrily to former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s criticism of economy, saying he will be remembered for bringing India to fragile five and high inflation during his tenure.
Sitharaman accused the previous prime minister of attempting to drag India down for political reasons at a time when it is the world’s fastest growing major economy following the Covid pandemic and is anticipated to stay so in the coming year as well. She has reacted angrily to former Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s criticism of the Modi government’s management of the economy.

I hold high esteem for you (Singh). ‘I didn’t expect you to do this,’ Sitharaman remarked.
