Hyderabad Commissioner of Police CP Sajjanar revealed that the accident took place while the pilgrims were on their way to Medina after completing their pilgrimage in Mecca “A total of 54 people left hyderabad for jeddah on November 9. The tour was planned until November 23. Four of them went to Medina by car yesterday. Another four remained in mecca. The remaining 46 people left Mecca for Medina by bus.

The incident took place at around 1.30 am (Indian time ) on Monday. The bus caught fire after hitting a diesel tanker and spread throughout the vehicle. The death toll is believed to be high as all the passengers were asleep at the time of the accident. Rescue operations are ongoing at the scene. The Indian Embassy in Jeddah said that a control room has been set up in response to the accident. (Maxim News)
