Flooding Rises In Srisailam Reservoir: 10 Gates Lifted

Srisailam/Hyderabad, Sept 27 (Maxim News): The Srisailam reservoir in Nandyal district of AP is inundated. Due to heavy rains in the upper reaches, flood water is entering the reservoir from the Jurala and Sunkesula projects.

As a precautionary measure, the authorities are raising 10 gates by 12 feet and releasing water downstream. The inflow to the Srisailam project is 4,04,658 cusecs, while 3,81,392 cusecs of water is being released.

5,000 cusecs of water are being released downstream from the Pothireddypadu head regulator, 35,315 cusecs from the left bank power station, and 30,237 cusecs from the right bank power station.

The water level of the project is currently 883 feet against the full water level of 885 feet. The relevant officials revealed that 204.35 TMC of water is stored against the project’s water storage capacity of 215.80 TMC. (Maxim News)
