Former DGP Mahender Reddy Appointed As New TSPSC Chairman

Hyderabad, Jan 25 (Maxim News):  The appointment of M. Mahender Reddy as the Chairman of Telangana Public Service Commission (TSPSC) has been finalized.  Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan took a decision today, approving the appointment of former DGP mahender Reddy.

Retired IAS Anita Rajendra, Palwai Rajani Kumari, Ameer Ullah Khan, Yadaiah and Y.Ram Mohan Rao have also been appointed as TSPSC members.

A total of 370 applications have been received for the post of TSPSC Chairman.  The government has appointed a search committee and assigned the responsibility of examining the applications and recommending the eligible candidates.  The Committee has speedily examined the applications.

The name of former DGP Mahender Reddy was suggested to the government among those who applied for the post of Chairman.  the government sent the name to the Governor for consideration.  Finally the Governor approved his appointment.

Mahender Reddy was born in Krishnapuram, madhira Mandal, Khammam District.  He is a 1968 batch police service officer and retired as DGP.

He was appointed as the in-charge DGP on November 12, 2017 after the resignation of DGP Anurag Sharma.  Appointed as full time DGP on April 10, 2018.  Mahender Reddy retired as DGP in December 2022.  

During his tenure of more than three years, he played a key role in maintaining law and order in the state.  That’s why on april 8, 2020, he secured the 8th position in the list of top 25 IPS officers in the country.

Though Mahender Reddy is appointed as the Chairman of TSPSC, he is likely to continue till December this year, because, according to the rules of the commission, one has to retire after 62 years.  (Maxim News)
