Former Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil Passes Away

Latur/Hyderabad, Dec 12 (Maxim News): Former Union Home Minister and senior Congress leader Shivraj Patil has passed away.  90 year old patil had been suffering from ill health for some time. He breathed his last at his native place ‘Deogarh’ in Latur, Maharashtra in the early hours of Friday.  He was elected as Lok Sabha MP seven times in a row from 1980 to 2004.

Born on October 12, 1935, Patil entered politics by being elected as the Chief of Latur Municipal Council.  He won as an MLA in the early 70s.  Later, he won as an MP in the Lok Sabha.  he served as the Speaker of the Lok Sabha from 1991 to 1996.  He served as the Union Home Minister from 2004 to 2008.  He served as the Governor of Punjab from 2010 to 2015.  (Maxim News)
