Foundation Day Lecture Held Today At MANUU
Hyderabad: “India is the fastest growing country of the world today and within 10 to 15 years it will be at third largest Economy”. Prof. Amitabh Kundu, Senior Fellow, WRI India said today at Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) while delivering foundation day lecture “India Towards Inclusive & Sustainable Development, Opportunities & Challenges” at DDE Auditorium. He was speaking as the Chief Guest to mark the 27th Foundation Day celebrations of MANUU. Shri. Mumtaz Ali, Chancellor, MANUU presided over and Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan, Vice-chancellor, delivered the inaugural address.
Through a powerpoint presentation, Prof. Amitabh Kundu detailed the opportunities and challenges faced for inclusive and sustainable development of India. Showing a graph of Brookings projection of share, he said by 2028 India is predicted to be the fastest growing country and is at second place but if there is inequality in the access to labor market then it should decrease a little. The Asian Development Bank predicted that India’s share may be 27 percent in 2050, but if we do not address inequality in access to labor market, gender inequality, caste based & religion based inequalities then our glorious future will be destroyed.
Mr. Mumtaz Ali in his presidential remarks opined that economy and education is must but if one does not learn to live with peace, then no matter how much we progress, it is of no use. Religion has its own belief systems and no one should interfere in it but the Country is ours and it has to be taken forward, this is everyone’s responsibility. By practicing one’s own religion, everyone can live together and this is the biggest principle for the country to develop and move forward. The chancellor, while witnessing the works being done in MANUU informed that efforts are being made to invite the President of India to attend the upcoming convocation of MANUU.
Prof. Ainul Hasan in his inaugural address acknowledged the contribution of both teaching and non-teaching employees as well as the retired staff of MANUU in the progress of the University. He also appreciated the support of a large number of Alumnus behind this progress. MANUU is a true representation of Maulana Abul Kalam Azad, he added. He thanked the Chancellor for his immense support and the Chief guest for accepting the invitation. Prof. Hasan also informed that MANUU will be establishing a School of Law very soon.
Prof. Shugufta Shaheen, OSD-1 delivered a welcome speech and also introduced the Chief Guest. Prof. Ishtiaque Ahmed, Registrar, MANUU introduced the Chancellor, Shri Mumtaz Ali.
On this occasion, University felicitated Retired Teachers and Non-teaching Employees of MANUU with shawl, memento and flower pot for their dedicated services rendered to the institution. Among retired teaching fraternity – Prof. Syed Shah Mohd. Mazheruddin Farooqui, Prof. Amina Kishore, Prof. Mohd. Naseemuddin, Prof. S M Rahmatullah, Prof. Tahseen Bilgrami and from retired Non-teaching staff Dr. P S Munawar Hussain Khan, Mrs. Mallika and Mr. Shaik Mohd were present on the occasion.
Prof. M.A. Sami Siddiqui, Director, CPDUMT convened the programme and Dr. Mohd Mustafa Ali Sarwari, PRO I/c proposed vote of thanks. Under the supervision of Mr. Meraj Ahmed, Cultural Coordinator the students presented the National Anthem. A new University Silver Jubilee Tarana written by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Syed Ainul Hasan was also screened by IMC. The tarana was prepared by the Instructional Media Centre team under the supervision of the Director, Dr. Rizwan Ahamd.
