Despite repeated assurances from the government, many people rushed to fuel stations. As a result, long queues were seen at several outlets. Meanwhile, dealers said the sudden rush pushed sales to nearly 2.5 to 3 times the normal levels. This surge, they added, caused temporary stock exhaustion at some stations.

However, the association made it clear that supply chains remain stable. Telangana Petroleum Dealers Association president Marri Amarender Reddy said oil companies have enough stock. These include HPCL, IOCL and BPCL. “Supply chains are functioning normally,” Reddy said. He also asked people to buy fuel only as per their regular needs.

Meanwhile, the association raised safety concerns. It warned against storing petrol or diesel in cans. According to it, this practice violates PESO norms. It also increases the risk of fire accidents. “Improper storage of fuel can lead to hazardous situations, including fire accidents. This is not a safe or approved method of storing fuel,” it added.

Therefore, dealers stressed that panic buying is unnecessary and risky. They said such behavior disrupts regular supply flow. It also creates avoidable pressure on fuel stations. Later, they appealed to citizens to remain calm and trust official updates.
