- US proposes Trump Ceasefire Plan to Iran through intermediaries
- Troop buildup and airstrikes continue amid ceasefire efforts
Hyderabad, march 25: The Trump administration has offered a 15-point ceasefire plan to Iran, even as military tensions continue in the region. A person briefed on the proposal said intermediaries from Pakistan delivered the plan. Meanwhile, the United States is preparing to send more troops to the Middle East.
The proposal comes as the US military plans to deploy at least 1,000 more troops. These will support nearly 50,000 troops already present in the region. In addition, the Pentagon is deploying two Marine units. These units will add about 5,000 Marines and thousands of sailors. The move, officials said, gives President Donald Trump “max flexibility” for future decisions.
However, the situation remains tense. Airstrikes have hit Iran, while Iranian missiles and drones targeted Israel and other sites. Iran has denied that any negotiations are taking place. At the same time, Trump said the US is “in negotiations right now” and added, “We have a number of people doing it,” and “And the other side, I can tell you, they’d like to make a deal.”
Meanwhile, Iranian officials have taken a firm stance. Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf denied claims of direct talks. An Iranian military spokesperson also said, “Iran’s powerful armed forces are proud, victorious and steadfast in defending Iran’s integrity, and this path will continue until complete victory.”
The conflict has also affected global trade. Iran’s control over the Strait of Hormuz has disrupted shipping and raised fuel prices. Although talks briefly lowered oil prices, Brent crude soon rose above USD 100 a barrel. Prices have increased nearly 40 percent since the war began.
Talks, however, face major challenges. The US and Iran differ on key issues, including missile and nuclear programs. Also, it remains unclear who in Iran has the authority to negotiate. Israel has pushed for continued military action, which adds further complexity.
Meanwhile, violence continues across the region. Israel carried out strikes on Iranian production sites. Iran launched multiple missile waves at Israel, causing injuries. Attacks also affected Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Lebanon. Civilian casualties have been reported in several areas.
Therefore, while diplomatic efforts are underway, the conflict shows no clear signs of easing. Officials continue to focus on trust-building measures. They also aim to prevent attacks on energy infrastructure and reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
