Hyderabad, Sept. 21: Ganesh idol immersion continued at Hussain Sagar over the weekend as large crowds gathered across Hyderabad. The celebrations also led to heavy traffic around key roads near the lake.
Hundreds of idols reached Hussain Sagar for immersion from Saturday through late Sunday night. The arrivals ranged from small household idols carried on two wheelers to large pandal idols transported on decorated trucks.
The city administration made arrangements at Hussain Sagar and nearby areas to manage the immersion process. Officials also prepared baby ponds for idol immersion at designated locations.
Authorities strengthened safety arrangements along the lake shoreline. They deployed expert swimmers and disaster response teams at areas where large crowds gathered.
Lifesavers also remained alert along the water’s edge. Heavy cranes and multi tier barricades supported the arrangements during the immersion activity.
Ganesh Idol Immersion Brings Heavy Traffic
The large number of vehicles carrying idols caused traffic congestion at several important locations. Khairatabad, NTR Marg, People’s Plaza, Secretariat and Tank Bund witnessed heavy traffic as trucks and other vehicles moved towards immersion points.
Traffic movement remained affected as devotees and idol processions continued to reach the Hussain Sagar area. Authorities maintained arrangements to manage the movement of vehicles and crowds.
The weekend immersion also drew large numbers of devotees to the Khairatabad Ganesh pandal. More than one lakh devotees reportedly visited the pandal between 10 am and 9 pm on Sunday.
Footfall increased steadily through the day as devotees arrived for darshan. The heavy turnout added to the overall movement around Khairatabad and nearby areas.
Hyderabad Ganesh Celebrations Continue
The immersion activity reflected the scale of Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations across Hyderabad. Household groups and larger community pandals participated in the immersion process.
The administration continued its safety arrangements as the crowds increased. Swimmers, disaster response personnel and lifesavers remained deployed near high density areas.
At the same time, cranes and barricades helped officials manage the immersion points. The arrangements aimed to reduce risks as large numbers of devotees gathered around the lake.
With immersion activity continuing, authorities are maintaining a close watch on crowd movement and traffic around Hussain Sagar. The weekend saw one of the busiest phases of the ongoing celebrations in the city.
