Ganja Worth ₹60 Lakh Seized in Kothagudem; Two Arrested
Kothagudem police have arrested two ganja smugglers and seized 121 kg of ganja worth approximately ₹60 lakh in a major crackdown on drug trafficking. The operation was carried out by the Burgampad police, who intercepted the smugglers during a vehicle check on the outskirts of the town.
Smuggling Route and Arrest
According to Paloncha DSP Sathish Kumar, the accused—Vankudoth Sai Kumar from Sarapaka in Burgampad mandal and Pedamutyam Vamshi from Polipaka in Kunavaram mandal of ASR district, Andhra Pradesh—were caught near Sammakka-Sarlamma Gaddelu on Saturday.
Investigations revealed that the duo procured the contraband from a dealer in Kalimela, Odisha. They transported the ganja into Telangana by crossing the River Godavari in a boat before loading it into a car. They planned to deliver the consignment to a gang of five ganja traders at Yellandu Crossroads near Kothagudem.
Authorities on High Alert
Police are now working to identify and apprehend the remaining members of the drug trafficking network. Authorities have intensified checkpoints and surveillance in the region to curb further smuggling attempts. (Maxim News)
