GHMC Clinches National Award for Exemplary Cleanliness Efforts

Hyderabad, January 6 (Maxim News): The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has once again achieved national recognition for its unwavering commitment to cleanliness.

This time, the Hyderabad city has been awarded the prestigious Swachh Sarvekshan National Award-2023, a testament to its relentless efforts in maintaining impeccable sanitation standards.

A Decade of Accolades:

This isn’t the first time GHMC has been lauded for its dedication to hygiene. Since 2015, the corporation has consistently ranked among the top contenders in the Swachh Sarvekshan rankings, garnering numerous accolades such as:

Best State Capital Award in Swachh Survey-2018
Best Metro City Award in Swachh Survekshan-2019
ODF++ recognition in 2019
Swachhata Excellence Award in 2019
Best Mega City and Citizen Feedback Awards in Swachh Survekshan-2020

Responsible wastewater treatment:

Wastewater from GHMC Water Plus drains is responsibly treated and discharged through Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs), minimizing environmental impact.
Water Plus certification: Recognizing GHMC’s dedication to sustainable water management, the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development has awarded the city a three-star Water Plus status for the past two years.

A Five-Star Transformation:

This year, GHMC has reached new heights, achieving a remarkable 5-star rating in the Garbage Free City category of Swachh Survekshan-2023, a significant upgrade from its previous three-star ranking.

Mayor Gadwal Vijayalakshmi and Commissioner Ronald Rose expressed their heartfelt gratitude for the award, acknowledging the tireless efforts of everyone involved.
