Beggars Rehabilitation | Hyderabad, April 22 (Maxim News): GHMC launched a major Beggars Rehabilitation Programme on Wednesday under its 99 Days Action Plan. Officials carried out a citywide special drive across all 30 circles within GHMC limits. The operation targeted railway stations, bus stations, busy junctions, and temple surroundings.

Teams from several departments joined the programme. They included Project Officers, Circle Officers, Traffic Police, Law and Order Police, sanitation staff, NGO representatives, and other officials. As a result, the drive covered many high footfall areas across Hyderabad.

Beggars Rehabilitation Drive Covers Key Areas

The teams conducted checks at Nampally Railway Station, Kachiguda Railway Station, KBR Park, Amberpet Junction, Ameerpet Junction, Balkampet Temple surroundings, Nanalnagar Junction, and Aramghar Junction. Moreover, officials expanded the operation to other vulnerable points in the city.

During the drive, authorities identified 107 beggars. Out of them, officials shifted 37 individuals to Amma Nanna Orphanage near Choutuppal. There, they are receiving medical tests and basic support services.

In addition, authorities admitted 40 more people to different shelter homes within GHMC limits with NGO support. Meanwhile, officials counselled the remaining individuals and sent them back to their native places.

GHMC Focuses on Beggars Rehabilitation

Officials said the programme marks an important step in Beggars Rehabilitation and social welfare. They added that the goal is not punishment but support, care, and long term rehabilitation.

Furthermore, GHMC plans to continue such drives regularly across the city. Authorities believe sustained action can reduce begging and help vulnerable people rebuild their lives.

The civic body also urged citizens to support rehabilitation efforts and guide needy persons toward official shelters and welfare centres. (Maxim News)
